A blog of recent work by Ray Berry, Professor of Art at Randolph-Macon College
I understand you do encaustic outdoors. Can you share your technique? Your work is so unique and intriguing.
Just to keep it simple: I work on site with a torch and my palette (on a butchers tray or a cookie sheet) of encaustic paints which is similar to how you would set up watercolor. It's ongoing...almost no waste because when the heat is off, it just freezes and ready for next use...it's really not complicated, just use common sense and be ready to set a few brushes ablaze before you figure out what to do with each hand!
